Sermon of a child
Sitting on a bench in an alleyway, I was thinking to myself about where I am in life and what I have achieved so far. A cold breeze brushed my cheek, showing no mercy to the condition I was in.
Rain drops falling in front of me, inches away from my bent knees, reminded me that my poison was not far from me. A few drops on my jeans reminded me that there was no perfect escape.
If I stood a few feet away from where I was sitting for just five minutes, I would be lying in a hospital bed in two days. But here I sit with no fear of the potentially horrible outcome.
It is the same thing actually with friends. Or people whom you call friends. Sometimes you know the harm they pose but still decide to be friends with them because you sometimes need their help, or because no matter how they may treat you, you may still be fond of their company.
You still sit with them, eat with them and talk with them and are fully aware that in your absence they may not show the same loyalty as they do in your presence. Or that they may not be there if you need one horrendous favor.
Life is not about living the perfect conditions, associating the perfect people but it's about finding the patience and courage to deal with undesirable events and undesirable people and still live.
Living can be keyed until one keeps on fighting, keeps on believing that he can still put up with everything life throws in his way.
One is lost if he tries to push away all the unpleasant companions, tries to avoid unpleasant situations. Life is never easy. If your life seems easy, then either you're not truly looking at your life or you choose to ignore all the adversities.
Everyone wants feel secure. Everyone wants to be safe. Nobody wants to take the long and rough road. But if I've learned anything in this short life of mine, it is that if you don't take the hard road at first then the next few turns on an easy road will make the road miserable.
It's always safe to take a risk than taking no risk at all.
